After establishing The Upgrade University, Jarveal sought a professional path that resonated deeply with his passion for fostering human and organizational growth. His journey led him to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he assumed dual roles as a Professional Development & Career Coach within the prestigious honors program, Honors Carolina, and as a Business Learning Manager for the university.

Jarveal's passion for coaching was evident at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he spearheaded a university-wide implementation of PeopleGrove, the first career access platform in higher education. His leadership extended beyond deployment; he actively coached faculty, staff, and students throughout the university, empowering them to harness this new technology to maximize professional development and career opportunities. His dedication to fostering growth and development within the university community was indisputable.

Moreover, his coaching and influence within Honors Carolina transcended throughout the department; he became a driving force behind its evolution, spearheading initiatives that profoundly enhanced the program's impact:

  • Crafting the cornerstone HNRS 101 College, Careers, and Honors Carolina Life course, Jarveal empowered Honors students with essential insights into the program's offerings and resources.

  • Revamping the Honors Carolina Student Board into the inclusive Honors Carolina Student Association (HCSA), fostering a culture of inclusion and student engagement.

  • Introducing Graham Gatherings, fostering a stronger sense of community and connection among students.

  • Designing a comprehensive strategic plan to elevate Honors Carolina's social media presence, amplifying its reach and impact.

  • Pioneering the "Do It For the Graham" global photo initiative, spotlighting students' enriching experiences abroad and inspiring others to participate in Honors' study abroad programs.

  • Establishing the Black Success Network, providing a vital platform for Black students to voice their experiences and perspectives in a supportive environment.

Key Accomplishments

  • Jarveal was honored with the UNC Employee Forum’s 2020 Professional Excellence Award, recognizing his outstanding performance that surpassed assigned duties. He demonstrated exceptional execution through supportive collaborations within and between campus departments, along with exemplary community engagement.

  • Jarveal's stellar track record within the Honors program and his extensive consulting background positioned him as the ideal candidate to lead the university-wide L&D initiative and technology implementation of PeopleGrove, the cornerstone platform utilized at Honors Carolina.

  • At the onset of his UNC tenure, Jarveal wasted no time in becoming an integral part of the Carolina Black Caucus (CBC), stepping into the role of Marketing Chair. His primary task: ensuring seamless communication with both current and prospective members, amplifying engagement within the organization.

  • Jarveal's involvement with the CBC propelled him to join the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Chapter of the NAACP, where he assumed the role of Scholarship Chair. Here, he spearheaded numerous initiatives and meticulously oversaw the selection process for high school scholarship recipients, embodying a steadfast commitment to educational equity and empowerment within the community.
