I served as Professor Baker’s Teaching Assistant for the Fall 2021 HNRS 101 - Honors 101: College, Careers, & Honors Carolina Life class.
Professor Baker created a classroom environment in which students felt comfortable enough to relate to their instructors as equals and to their peers as friends. This was an ideal environment for Carolina First Year Honors students to explore their personal assets and what UNC has to offer. I greatly enjoyed his positivity and relatability!
The classroom environment was ideal for students to make friends with their peers. Students who were strangers ended the semester as friends after having met in HNRS 101. Personally, Jarveal coached me through exploring my options of pursuing a future career path. Although his sessions did not book for over an hour, Jarveal met with me for close to an hour and a half helping me to work through my thought processes and offering valuable insight. I appreciated him and his time immensely!
